I make little desserts and things out of polymer clay. I want to start turning them into jewelry pieces and selling them to put the money towards photography gear. (gahh such an expensive hobby)

Someone once told me to take the amount of money it takes to make each item and multiply that by three. Sometimes that seems like way too much and sometimes not enough.

So what is the real rule to pricing handmade items?

At the end of the day, any piece of jewelry or art is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. Unfortunately, it is not so much about the quality of your work as what the market will bear.

The best way to research this is to do an internet search for similar polymer jewelry pieces. You can do this using ebay tools or look on esty or similar sites. If you want to sell your jewelry locally, then check some craft galleries to see how the items are priced. Don't forget to include your labor and not just the cost of materials. Good luck!! : P

it all depends on if they look good or not, price them so the u make a profit, and what people might buy them for. if u give me a link to see them, and info on material costs, i would happily give u my opinion on prices.
