For a project I have to make a cubic shape out of polyester casting resin. In the past I have used acetate and/or acrylic plexiglass to make molds for cubic shapes made from plaster. Will this same technique work for a resin mold? This is my first time working with resin, I have the resin, mold...
I wish I could give a good answer, but I think it depends on how good a job you do with the mold release - how are you going to hold the plexiglass together to make a nice cube? 5 sides and clamps or rubber bands? I think the slightest flaw and the resin will glue itself and the plex together.
Obviously you need disposable measuring/mixing cups and stirring sticks, protective gloves and sheets on the work surface.
And work up in size - mix too much resin, especially on a warm day - and it gets very hot and bubbles and cooks.
