I'm letting my play dough dry for a science project. But it's starting to really crack! Any way I can fix it?

Here are 2 things

1) It could be too thick Maybe you could hollow it out

2) It could be drying too fast. Fix the cracks with water and a bit of pressure then loosely wrap in plastic wrap The goal is to leave small cracks so some water vapor can slowly escape

Put it in a container. Leave some space for some water. Pour some water in a cup and leave it in the container with the play-dough. The water will evaporate and leave some moisture for the play dough to not dry out. If there is some cracks, add some water to the cracked areas to moisten it and then reform if soft enough or add more water to the small water container. Hope I helped.
