My class is going to make butterflies to send to the holocaust museum . We have to make them out of unconventional materials. I saw a recipe for cold porcelain clay, and wondered if i could make my butterfly out of that. It has to survive the mailing process.

I haven't used "cold porcelain," but I have used many different clay bodies including air dry and fired clays. The cold porcelain, like most air dry clays, needs to be sealed with a commercial sealant to be waterproof. Air dry clays are not as permanent as fired ceramic clays and certainly no where near as strong as real porcelain clay that is high-fired in a kiln.

Cold porcelain was designed to make very delicate objects. As far as shipping, with anything that delicate as your butterflies, I would pack it in something that gives a little and isn't hard and then double box it for protection. Good luck.
